Romain Dumas crowned at Road Atlanta
7 october 2007

Romain Dumas has won the LMP2 class at Road Atlanta. This victory means he has been crowned the 2007 ALMS champion together with his co-driver, Timo Bernhard. In addition, Romain came very close to another remarkable achievement at the wheel of the Team Penske Porsche RS Spyder. Incredibly he finished the race just 9/10ths of a second behind the winning Audi., which represents the smallest margin of victory in the 10 year history of the race. It’s no exaggeration to say that the fight for the overall win was very intense and that neither Audi nor Porsche had it easy. Romain fought very hard right to the end on a track that was not really favourable to the Porsche, and could have finished in first place but the last Safety Car intervention and traffic prevented him. As well as the battle between the No 7 Porsche and the No 1 Audi R10, there was another duel taking place. The drivers title had to be settled between the two sister cars of Team Penske. The No 6 Porsche RS Spyder was behind throughout practice. So Romain has pocketed his first LMP2 title. The next and last round of the ALMS championship will take place in twoo weeks time at Laguna Seca.
